Spring in France, spring in Finland

So here I am now, back in Finland in order to finish a project or two - if everything goes as planned. Wish me luck! :) As I'm working hard on my projects, I haven't had much time for blogging, but here are some photos that I've taken just before leaving Caen and after having arrived here in the Northern Finland. It's two different worlds, but one thing is the same: the spring is here!

Oh the sun, sun, sun!

No more skiing or skating or ice-fishing on the Baltic Sea... at least for a few months!

When the snow is melting, the rubber boots are in!

Nordic style à la française

For some reason, every year, in the springtime, I get an urge to redecorate my apartment. It doesn't necessarily mean buying new sofas or changing the curtains, although, admittedly, it may entail a new pair of sofa pillows or a colourful tablecloth. But more than anything, it means rearranging the furniture.

Which is, of course, a lot of fun. Even though my apartment is relatively small, rearranging everything can also be very time-consuming, as my method is more like going through trial and error than by careful planning and measuring. And perhaps because my apartment is quite small, even the smallest thing, like getting a new floor lamp - merci encore à Gunn :) - can have a snowball-like effect on the rest of the decoration.

For some time now, I've been dreaming of a yellow arm chair. I don't know where I would put one (not sure there'd be room for any kind of new furniture in my apartment), but still, the idea of a 50's style yellow arm chair is oddly pleasing to me. So I've taken to leafing some French catalogues on furniture and decoration and last week I stumbled upon this:

So this is what Nordic design looks like in France. Furry chairs and vintage colours and porcelain deer heads on the wall. :) Well, I guess if I had an apartment like that, I wouldn't mind a furry chair or two - or those two yellow arm chairs with the cute little kitten included!

Elvis is in the house

Hello there!
You may have already seen me in some of the photos on this blog,
but it was about time that I present myself and my adoptive home properly.

My name is Elvis, even though my female servant likes to call me Kisu (God knows why...) and my male servant calls me Kissou (even worse!). I am a 3-year old male cat and - even if I say it myself - I'm just simply gorgeous. Just look at my shiny black fur and my big, big yellow eyes. Irresistible...

Gosh! My female servant cannot even take proper pictures. Well, you can see it anyway, I've got some serious charm and this is my kingdom.

The grey couch and the stripey arm chair are my favourite places. They're soft and comfortable and also great for stretching and sharpening my nails. I'm often interrupted by my servants though, so I never get the job really finished. The female servant in particular keeps telling me some bla bla about a scratching tree. Clearly she hasn't realized that I'm much more clever than that. If I'm hungry or I want to play or go outside, there's no better way to catch my servants' attention than to give their precious sofa a scratch or two!

If need be, I can also look very cute and adorable and oh-so-innocent:
"I only did it because you didn't notice me..."
And I can purr, oh yes indeed, I can purr magnificently and I do purr a lot.
I'm told I sound like a coffee machine.

It works like a charm every time - they're like putty in my hands!

When I want to play, I go and hide under the table and wait for my servants to start the game. Nothing can escape from me!

Besides playing with my toys, my favourite activities are sleeping...

...and eating. I am a bit gourmand, as they say in French, meaning I like good food. Especially the food my female servant eats, although for some reason she seems to think that she's got a monopoly over good stuff and that I should stick to cat food.

I often have to take the matter into my own paws in order to get served. Such a disgrace! Fortunately I have an excellent hearing and I'm fast - whenever the fridge door opens, I'm there in no time!

That's all for now, folks. The sun is setting - it's time to start my show!
See you around!
Meow!

My favourite places: Louvigny

Here's another one of my favourite places in Caen: the beautiful park of Louvigny.

Strictly speaking, Louvigny is a commune of its own, with about 2 700 inhabitants, but given that the village is situated only 5 kilometres from the centre of Caen, it's a natural part of the agglomeration.
And a great place to go out jogging and to enjoy the fresh air and the approaching spring!

Here are some photos from my Sunday jog.
Sunny Easter to all!
